About the Addition

Located at the north end of the Robins School of Business and across from the University of Richmond’s primary entrance, Queally Hall will represent not only the University’s front door to the business community, but also the front door to all who visit our campus.

The design of the building was guided by five principles:
  • Sense of community: A student lounge, café, business center, auditorium, and ample reception space will all enhance the sense of community among the school’s various stakeholders––students, faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and friends.
  • Discovery-based learning: The expansion will include spaces that encourage discovery-based learning, such as a capital markets room and a business research lab, as well as small breakout rooms. All of these spaces will be equipped with top-of-the-line technology, and the same information that is available to business professionals.
  • Collaboration: Student research space, office clusters, and small conference and conversation spaces will encourage collaboration and informal conversation among faculty and students working in related areas.
  • Flexibility: The building has been designed to allow for functional changes in reaction to changing technology, research, and pedagogy. Movable, renewable technologies and multipurpose spaces contribute to this flexibility.
  • Front door to the business community: The expansion includes a number of meeting and reception venues that can be used for employee events, such as the Ukrop Auditorium, a board room, and courtyard.
